Expectations for the housing market in the near future

On Behalf of Crislip, Philip & Royal | Sep 18, 2022 | Real estate transactions

Buying or selling a home in the current market can be a complicated endeavor. There are reasons for both Tennessee buyers and sellers to remain cautious as inflation, rising interest rates and other economic factors will likely have impacts on the housing market in the near future. Knowing what to expect can help one adequately prepare for the next steps and ensure the protection of his or her long-term interests during the process.

Expectations for buyers and sellers

Home prices have been at historic highs, making it difficult for many to move forward with a home purchase. However, there have been signs that this trend may be changing, and homes could be more affordable soon for the average buyer. However, while prices may drop, interest rates are expected to rise. This could make a home purchase even more difficult, especially for first-time buyers.

For sellers, these same factors could impact how quickly they may be able to sell their homes. This may encourage lower home prices as sellers are looking to attract the attention of potential buyers. Those who cannot buy may consider renting, but rent prices are also high.

The protection of legal and financial interests

Buying or selling a home in Tennessee is a major decision. In a complex market, it is more important than ever to have experienced guidance when navigating each step of this process. Before making any critical decisions that could affect one’s future, it is beneficial for both buyers and sellers to discuss their legal and financial interests with an attorney.
